Bears Take First Game in Series with Chestatee

Cherokee Bluff Varsity Bears got out to a 4-run lead in the fifth inning and held on for a 5-4 victory over Chestatee on Monday. Chestatee closed the gap by scoring on a double, a single, and a single.

Cherokee Bluff Varsity Bears were the first to get on the board in the first when Caleb Miele singled, scoring one run.

A sacrifice fly by Miele extended the Cherokee Bluff Varsity Bears lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the third inning.

Jacob Vokal began the game for Cherokee Bluff Varsity Bears. The starting pitcher allowed seven hits and four runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking one. Jake Hitchcock stepped on the hill first for Chestatee.

They surrendered six hits and five runs over four and one-third innings, striking out three and walking three. Logan Robinson pitched one and one-third innings of scoreless ball for Cherokee Bluff Varsity Bears in relief. The reliever surrendered zero hits, striking out none and walking none.

Miele and Vokal were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Cherokee Bluff Varsity Bears. Miele and Ethan England each drove in two runs for Cherokee Bluff Varsity Bears. Kaden Thompson and Landon Kemp each stole multiple bases for Cherokee Bluff Varsity Bears. Cherokee Bluff Varsity Bears ran wild on the base paths, piling up six stolen bases for the game.

Colton Wilbanks provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Chestatee with two runs batted in. The center fielder went 2-for-4 on the day.

Hitchcock, Wilbanks, and benna each collected two hits for Chestatee. Chestatee didn’t commit a single error in the field. Brock Moody had the most chances in the field with four.
