Cherokee Bluff Varsity Bears Nab Win Over Madison County Varsity Despite Early 3-Run Inning

Despite allowing three runs in the first inning, the Cherokee Bluff Varsity Bears defeated the Madison County Varsity 14-4 on Friday. The big inning for Madison County came thanks to doubles by Lane Nix and Shane Little.

Madison County got on the board in the first inning when Nix doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

The Bears pulled away for good with four runs in the third inning. In the third Kaden Thompson singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs and Landon Kemp doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

The Bears tallied six runs in the sixth inning. Bear batters contributing to the big inning included Thompson, Ethan England, Garrett Harper, and Ty Corbin, who all drove in runs.

Tucker Holton got the start for Cherokee Bluff. The hurler went four and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs on six hits and striking out ten.

Conner Smith led things off on the hill for Madison County. The lefty went four and two-thirds innings, allowing eight runs on seven hits and striking out two. Little threw two-thirds of an inning out of the bullpen.

The Bears had 12 hits in the game. Ty Corbin, Jacob Vokal, and Caleb Miele all managed multiple hits for Cherokee Bluff Varsity Bears. Corbin went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Cherokee Bluff Varsity Bears in hits. Miele led Cherokee Bluff with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with 13 stolen bases.

Little led Madison County with two hits in three at bats.
