Cherokee Bluff Bears Varsity Clinches Lead in Sixth Inning to Defeat Sandy Creek

Cherokee Bluff Bears Varsity took the lead late and defeated Sandy Creek 16-10 on Saturday. Cherokee Bluff Bears Varsity was down 10-9 in the top of the sixth inning when Ty Corbin singled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.

Caleb Miele led Cherokee Bluff Bears Varsity to victory by driving in five runs. Miele went 2-for-4 at the plate. Miele drove in runs on a home run in the first and a double in the sixth.

Cherokee Bluff Bears Varsity fired up the offense in the first inning. Miele drove in three when Miele homered.

In the top of the fifth inning, Cherokee Bluff Bears Varsity tied things up at nine when Brett House grounded out, scoring one run.

Sandy Creek scored five runs in the fourth inning. Izzo, Green, and Belcher all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.

Jack Sparks got the win for Cherokee Bluff Bears Varsity. The righthander allowed two hits and zero runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking zero. Gabe Gowder and Chandler Shope entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

24 took the loss for Sandy Creek. The pitcher lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing eight hits and eight runs while striking out two and walking one.

Caleb Piland started the game for Cherokee Bluff Bears Varsity. Piland allowed two hits and four runs over one-third of an inning, striking out one Maddox started the game for Sandy Creek. Maddox allowed six hits and six runs over three innings, striking out five

Cherokee Bluff Bears Varsity hit three home runs on the day. House went yard in the first inning. Miele had a dinger in the first inning. Piland had a homer in the first inning.

Cherokee Bluff Bears Varsity tallied 14 hits in the game. Jacob Vokal, Miele, Landon Kemp, Corbin, and Kaden Thompson each had multiple hits for Cherokee Bluff Bears Varsity. Vokal led Cherokee Bluff Bears Varsity with three hits in six at bats. Cherokee Bluff Bears Varsity tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Vokal led the way with three.

Brown went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Sandy Creek in hits.
